The US Embassy in India issued a formal warning on January 7, 2026, warning Indian student visa holders to follow US laws and visa rules strictly. The embassy clearly stated, “Breaking U.S. laws can have serious consequences for your student visa. If you are arrested or violate any laws, your visa may be revoked, you may be deported, and you could be ineligible for future U.S. visas”.
This warning comes at a time when the US has crucially tightened immigration policies in 2025-2026, introducing stricter visa interviews, social media background checks, and higher scrutiny of international students. As a result, Indian students now face a more complex environment while studying in the US.
