• Candidates first take the full IELTS test - this can be Academic or General Training
• Upon getting their Test Report Form (TRF), they review their sectional scores
• If they are happy with their scores in the three parts but not with the fourth section, they can apply for a One Skill Retake
• They then redo only the part they want to better. For example, if candidates are unhappy with their Writing score, they can redo just the Writing part.
• The new score for the retaken part will be mixed with the previous section scores to determine the total overall IELTS band score.
• This new IELTS score will stay good for two years from the initial test date.

6. Pay the registration fees

Rescheduling and retaking the IELTS One Skill Retake test are slightly different. Rescheduling means changing your existing IELTS test to a different date.
