To apply for a New Zealand student visa, you must meet key requirements related to your admission, finances, identity, health, and intent to study.
Let’s understand each of these requirements in detail below:
Offer Letter from New Zealand University
You should have an official admission letter from a New Zealand-approved education provider confirming your course, duration, and enrollment. This proves that you are accepted into a valid full-time program.
Proof of Tuition Fee Payment
You need to show that you have paid your tuition fees (full or partial) or have arranged payment through a loan or scholarships in New Zealand. This assures immigration authorities that your education is financially secured.
Proof of Sufficient Funds
You must show funds to cover living expenses, around NZ 20,000 (around ₹11 L) per year, along with tuition costs. Bank statements, education loans, fixed deposits, or sponsor letters are accepted as proof.
Valid Passport and Identity Proof
A valid passport is required with validity extending at least 3 months beyond your intended stay. You might also need additional ID documents depending on your country of application.
Academic Qualifications
You might provide proof of your previous education, including certificates, transcripts, and relevant academic records. This helps judges determine whether you meet the eligibility criteria for your chosen course.
Health Requirements (Medical & Chest X-ray)
You might need to undergo a medical examination and chest X-ray for courses longer than 6 months. These tests confirm that you meet New Zealand’s health standards for international students.
Character Requirements (Police Certificate)
You might be required to submit a police clearance certificate to prove good character. This is needed for longer stays and must be issued recently, as per guidelines.
Genuine Intent to Study
You have to clearly show that your primary purpose is to study and that you plan to leave New Zealand after completing your course. A well-written SOP and supporting documents help build this intent.
