Stephen F. Austin State University is a public university in Texas. It was founded in 1923. The university became part of the University of Texas System in 2023 and it was previously not affiliated with Texas’ university systems. It is accredited by the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges and awards bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks are members of the Southland Conference and compete in Division I for all varsity sports. 

The university offers more than 120 areas of study, including more than 80 undergraduate majors, nearly 60 graduate degrees, and four doctoral programs through six colleges and one independent school.
