Transportation in the city

  • The Queen's University is 5 minutes away by foot from the Botanic Station that is served by Bangor, Larne, Newry, and Derry*Londonderry trains. The nearest coach and bus terminals are at Great Victoria Street, which is also connected by rail (or can also be walked to within ten minutes).
  • The Belfast Europa station also provides regular bus service to Dublin city and the Dublin airport.

  • There are more than 250 buildings on the campus, and 120 are listed as heritage.
  • The award-winning McClay library of the University houses more than 1.2 million volumes and has 2000 seats for readers and computers with wireless access.
  • At the Royal Victoria Hospital site, there is a modern medical library, with additional facilities located in the biomedical library at Lisburn road.
  • Students get to experience the varsity's art collection and shows by local and international artists at the Naughton Gallery.
  • There are four sporting sites in the University; PEC (Physical Education Center), the Boathouse, outdoor sports facilities in Upper Malone, and a cottage in the Mourne Mountains.
  • The PEC is just a five-minute walk from the main campus. It hosts a 120-piece fitness suite, four dance or exercise studios, two free-weight suites, a sauna, a 25-meter swimming pool with a diving area, ten squash areas, two handball racquet courts, a martial arts dojo, a table tennis area, and an outdoor training area.

Student life

Queen's University campus is a center for arts, culture, and social sciences. Its main campus is situated on the Southern fringes of Belfast center with two associated University colleges (St. Mary's and Stranmillis) located at the West and South-West of Belfast city, respectively.

  • The hub of the students' life is at the Student Union building, where students can enjoy a selection of entertainment venues, shops, and restaurants. There are more than 150 clubs and societies in the Student's Union.
  • Students can avail a wide range of sports, academic, and leisure facilities like labs, seminar rooms, restaurants, nightclubs, and an art-house cinema.

On campus accomodation

Queen's has housing facilities for both undergraduates and postgraduates. The accommodation is located South of the main campus on Marlone Road in a student's village called Elms Village.. The village has a host of shops and bars. Queen's also has several houses in the South Belfast area that are at College Garden and Mount Charles.

  • Queen's University is a five minutes walk from Botanic train station. There are many ways to commute within and around the campus, like bike schemes, taxis, and coach and bus services from Great Victoria Street.
  • There are two city center locations, Elms BT1 and Elms BT2.
  • BT1 and BT2 have single en-suite bedrooms and self-contained studio apartments having 3,4 or 6 bedroom configuration options.
  • All rooms have desktops with lamps, TV, sofa, dining table with chairs, kitchen with oven, fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, and rice cooker.
  • Both BT1 and BT2 have fully equipped gyms.
  • The accommodation is amidst a vibrant coffee culture and is close to local grocery stores like Spar, Tesco Express, and Centra. One of the leading retail hubs of the city, Victoria Square, is only 0.5 miles from the place.
  • Based on the type of room, accommodation rent ranges from 3,400 GBP to 7,800 GBP (337,893 INR to 775,167 INR).
