Located in the east of the City Centre, the suburban campus of JCU is housed in 149 Sims Drive that is spaced between Kallang and Aljunied Metro stations. There are multiple metro lines and buses that bring you to the college, located in 300 to 850 meters from campus. The campus is within walking distance of the newly built National Stadium. Parking fees on campus are about $80-$100, which is extravagant as mentioned by students.

JCU has a small but a well-equipped and modern 24,000-square-meters campus where the infrastructure is quite simple, clean and eco-friendly. Most of the buildings are well organized and structurally planned with all the rooms and buildings are Wi-Fi enabled and with coffee vending machines. Apart from that, JCU has 4 auditoriums and 8 Technology Enabled Active Learning (TEAL) rooms or Apple Rooms and IT Labs.

Residing Options

For student housing, JCU provides privately managed student hostels. There are various providers such as Quad Sharing, Triple sharing and twin sharing room, single executive and master room for both graduate and undergraduate students. However, students rate accommodation provided by JCU as below average.

With 58 full-time faculties (who at least require having a PhD), JCU is known for its research in climate change, microbiology and marine science. JCU runs on a trimester system and provides a ‘fast track' system where students can expedite their degree and complete it in a shorter period of time. The one year MBA program is quite popular amongst students for being quick, saving a lot of time and money. You can complete your Bachelor's course in 2 years and your post graduation in 16 months. However, students suggest avoiding the childcare courses at JCU as they not accredited in spite of being the most expensive in the country.
The end of a semester is known to bring a lot of stress among students. Class times vary. Full-time students spend 12-20 hours in class per week. Popular faculties at JCU are Lorraine Teo (English), Abhishek Singh (Business), M.S. Shanti (IT), Dr Denise Dillon (Psychology), Shanti Achanta (Education). Overall, students complain that the quality of education at JCU is way below par.

Jobs and placements

The JCU CareerHub facilitates career services on campus. As per Employment Reports, six months after college, 62% JCU graduates after college were employed, 18% seeking and 11% choosing to continue studies. In terms of sectors of employment: 13% work in Education, 12% in Technology and 9% in financial services, rest of them are dispersed in various areas. However, a comparative outlook will show that the employment percentage is drastically low at JCU compared to NUS or NTU (most of them provide above 90% employment rate with 62% of them fetching jobs in Singapore).
