How do we classify tier 1 ,tier 2 and tier 3 universities? Is it difficult to get a visa if we get an admit from a tier 3 university?
And finally I read somewhere on the internet that most tier 1 universities have deadlines in December,tier 2 in Jan and tier 3 April onwards, is this true?
Any help would be deeply appreciated.

There is no one factor that decides whether a University is tier 1/2/3..it depends upon your course, location, etc etc..a particularly University could be great for a particular course but not so great for another..another one could have a great curriculum with world class professors and labs but may fall behind in terms of placements...it is true that most tier 1 universities have their deadlines early (Stanford's deadline is Dec 1) but not always..but yes in most cases tier 3 universities do have deadlines stretching as far as May
