Campus life
Metro Transit provides buses and light rail trains for public transportation. Students at the University of Minnesota can apply for a discount transit pass that can be credited to their student accounts each semester. The Minneapolis and Saint Paul campuses are linked by a regular shuttle service operated by the University. The campus shuttle is free for all students at umtc university.
Library services are primarily available to faculty members, instructors, graduates, undergraduates, and staff. High-quality digital scans of materials are available at the libraries for a fee. The University offers on-campus health services to students, including diagnosis, treatment, and referral programs aimed at preventing illnesses as well as understanding them. Health insurance is a requirement for all students. Providing health insurance coverage helps the University ensure that students have access to medical care and are able to maintain good health.
There are endless places to explore around campus, whether you commute or live nearby. The Twin Cities campus is surrounded by a vibrant metropolis, but it is also a world unto itself, complete with bike paths, lakes, and the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area just steps away. The University offers a variety of fitness, wellness, and recreation programs to its students, including intramural sports and outdoor recreation. There is also a vibrant arts community in the Twin Cities. There are many ways to get involved at university, including student groups. Over 900 clubs exist, ranging from Alpine Ski Teams to Capoeira Clubs.

A student at the University of Minnesota can reside in either a residence hall or apartment on campus. It is common for approximately five rooms to share the same bathroom. Pioneer has approximately 22 single residents. There are two residents in one room. The apartments and residence halls offered are all co-ed.
