Impact of Passport expiry (by 2024) for fall 2023 application

Do I need to renew my passport before applying to US universitites? Will it impact my application?  
I am planning to apply first and then renew it before VISA intervews.

Hi,
To apply for F1 visa, you need atleast 6 months of a valid passport. I would highly recommend you to renew your passport now instead of waiting to apply to universities first and then renewing. The Visa expiry date is related to the visa and not the application submission. You can apply to universities without worrying about your passport.
