I am applying to UC Davis. Their min toefl score requirement is 80. My TOEFL iBT score is 99 (Speaking- 28 Writing-25 Listening-25 Reading-21). While going through graduate admission FAQs, I came across the fact that students with toefl score 104 or below need to take extra courses or appear for ELS examiniation. As per this link - http://iae.ucdavis.edu/graduate/ All new international graduate students should take an English language course (LIN 25 or LIN 26) during their first academic year, unless: student scored 24 or higher on the TOEFL (iBT) writing and 23 or higher on the TOEFL (iBT) speaking. My queries are - 1) Am I eligible for TA without taking exam or extra courses. Don't want to spend 3K for this. 2) If I don't want TA do I still need to take exam and extra English courses prior to MSCS with my current speaking and writing scores .

Don't worry. You don't have to retake. You can pass through the second and fourth options.
