How do I talk about aspirations/motivations/goals when writing a SOP for a non-thesis Masters?

I'd like to apply for a Masters of Science in CS/Data Science programfor the Fall 2023 intake.

I understand that with a SOP, you want to demonstrate that you are a good fit for the program. So, if you're looking for a non-thesis option, I'd think you'd say something like, "My goal is to get into the industry." If you are looking for a thesis option, you would mention that you want to get into research or academia. Is my comprehension correct?
