Can the email ID of my recommender be of a free domain provider (like Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail etc) instead of a professional ID (one that's linked with an institution/organization)?

Asking this because I'm planning to get one LoR from my mentor at my internship firm, which is a 3 year old start-up. Hence the employees don't have such kind of an email ID and they use Gmail ID.

Can anyone kindly provide some insights on this?
