CGPA is calculated by combining all the grade points and then finding their average. First, the total grade points are added together, and then this total is divided by the number of subjects or semesters to get the final CGPA.
Formula: CGPA = Total Grade Points Earned ÷ Total Number of Subjects (or Semesters)
Step 1: Add All Grade Points
First, add the grade points you have received in all subjects.
Step 2: Count Total Subjects
Next, count the total number of subjects (or semesters) included in the calculation.
Step 3: Divide to Get CGPA
Finally, divide the total grade points by the number of subjects to get your CGPA.
Example:
Let’s say a student has scored the following grade points in 5 subjects: 8, 9, 7, 8, 9
Total grade points = 41
Total subjects = 5
CGPA = 41 ÷ 5 = 8.2
So, the student’s CGPA is 8.2.
