FAQ

1. When do my clinical hours begin?
Clinicals begin in your second year as a typical master's NP student. Prior to beginning clinicals, you must have completed courses 641 and 650 and have an unencumbered RN license.

2. Who locates my placements?
The graduate clinical team and incoming students are working together on this project.

3. Is there a cost?
Yes: Castlebranch, Malpractice Insurance, and, depending on insurance coverage, a possible vaccine charge.

4. Is it necessary for my preceptor to be a nurse practitioner?
Not always, but if you want to become an NP, your preceptor must be an NP. Sometimes certified midwives, MDs, and other medical professionals are appropriate, but you must discuss this with your clinical coordinator.

5. Can I fulfill my hours in an emergency room?
These settings are sometimes referred to as specialist clinical hours; in an acute context, up to 100 hours can be accomplished. Urgent care and occupational health hours may be counted toward your primary care hours if approved in advance by your clinical faculty programme director.
