Am I late for my intake?

Hi, I'm 2023 graduate and will be joining in September intake. i haven't started my prep for GRE, IELTS as I'm busy with my research works. My question is can I join in the same intake if I start the process now. Or am I too late to apply to the universities. My consultant says i should start applying by next month to start the process for 2023 or else I will be joining in next intake. Is that true? #gre #applicationprocess #admissions

Hi Joopally Vedarutvija, one should start planning anywhere between 12-15 months before the intake. As you are aiming for Sep 2023 i.e. Fall 2023 intake, now is a good time to start. Just make sure that you give your tests like GRE and IELTS or TOEFL as early as possible. The application window for most Universities for Fall 2023 will begin in October of this year.

Here's a brief step-by-step guide to help you start your process:

1. Standardised tests:
You will ideally need two test scores. A GRE score and an ILETS or TOEFL exam score (which are English language tests). As you are starting now, I'll suggest you give both these tests preferably before Oct end or latest by mid of November. Book the dates ASAP as slots fill up fast in this period.

3. Application Documents:
Simultaneously, also start preparing for the following documents:
i. Statement of Purpose (SOP) - Key part of the application process. It shows your interest in your program choice and your goals in life.

iii. Academic Transcripts - Transcripts, just like mark sheets, are official documents showing proof of education with details of subjects studied and marks received. Your current university will provide these to you upon request.

4. Submit Applications:
By the time you complete all of the above, application windows for Fall 2023 admissions will have opened in all Universities. Check out the specific admission requirement of each university. Some might need 2 LORs, some might need an essay in addition to an SOP. Accordingly, keep all documents ready and fill out your applications preferably before Nov end.
