Received an admission from a USA university? Here are the next steps!
- Show finance docs to receive I20 Once you are accepted to a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)-certified US college or a university, you will have to show your finances to receive an I-20 form from the designated school official (DSO) at the school or university where you plan to enroll. The finance can be your bank account balance, loan sanction letter or any fixed deposits. The funds required as proof varies from University to University. The amount will be mentioned on the univeristy website - DS160 + SEVIS Fees If you have multiple admits, finalize your univeristy first. Once your choice of univeristy is finalized, you can start filling your DS160. You can work parallely on your DS160 and booking visa slots. You have to pay the SEVIS fee before attending F1 Visa Interview at the US Consulate. You have to do it at least 3days prior to visa interview. Take a print out of SEVIS fee receipt to the visa interview. Visa officer may check it. - SECURE A LOAN IF IT IS REQUIRED - Schedule VI You need to Book Visa Date to appear for Visa Interview with US Consulate. The US visa appointment available dates vary from country to country and location to location. It is not mandatory to schedule your appointment in the same location as in your DS-160. You are expected to schedule your appointment at the same location. But if you have to attend your visa interview at a different location, you are still allowed to do so. Once your visa is approved, you can fly! #USA #studyabroad #masters

Tips and Guidelines, for Academic LOR (Letter of Recommendation):
Hello everyone, as we all know an LOR plays a vital role while applying to different Universities. In this article, I have tried my best to explain to you about academia LORs based on my personal experiences. The following points should be kept in mind while drafting or selecting a Professor in order to get a Letter of Recommendation: 1. An LOR must be written on the Official Letterhead of the University/College. 2. The Date mentioned on the LOR should not be older than 3 months. 3. It should have the Referee’s signature on it. 4. It should also have the Referee’s official (university’s) email address (don't mention personal email ID such as Gmail, Yahoo, etc. ), contact number along with the ISD code, and their official address. 5. Don't approach Referees only because of their higher designation like Dean, HOD, and so on who never taught you even a single subject. However, the referee should be someone who has been teaching you for a long or under whom you have done your academic projects (Project Supervisor). So that in the LOR he/she can actually and specifically elucidate your skill set and character rather than generalized statements. 6. Try to contact those Professors who taught you your favorite subjects, so that a coherency can be observed by the admission committee by seeing your LOR, SOP, and CV. 7. Along with the Official Letterhead, a rubber stamp of the respective department/professor would make your LOR unique from most of the candidates, however, it is not necessary. 8. Length of the LOR should be somewhere between 300 to 400 words within a single page. 9. An LOR should also consist of a few weak areas of the applicant, but in a constructive manner. 10. An LOR should explain the relationship between the candidate and the recommender. 11. Comparisons on an academic and non-academic level from batchmates should also be there. I have received several admits from decent Universities in the US, UK, and Canada with the help of the aforementioned points. If you have any additional queries, feel free to drop them in the comment box below and I will be happy to resolve them. I hope this helps you. Best of luck!
