Middlebury College, a private liberal arts institution located in Middlebury, Vermont, was founded in 1800 by Congregationalists. Notably, it was the first college or university to operate in Vermont. As of the fall of 2020, the college had an enrollment of 2,773 undergraduates, hailing from all 50 U.S. states and 74 different countries. Middlebury offers 45 majors across the arts, humanities, and also provides joint engineering programs.

In addition to its undergraduate liberal arts program, Middlebury includes several graduate schools. These include the Middlebury College Language Schools, the Bread Loaf School of English, and the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey. The college also operates the C.V. Starr-Middlebury Schools Abroad, offering international programs. Middlebury’s 31 varsity teams, known as the Middlebury Panthers, compete in the NCAA Division III’s NESCAC conference.

Campus

The 350-acre (1.4 km²) main campus is nestled in the Champlain Valley, with Vermont's Green Mountains rising to the east and New York's Adirondack Mountains to the west. Situated on a hill just west of the village of Middlebury, the campus overlooks the traditional New England village, which is centred around the Otter Creek Falls.

In the fall of 1994, the President and Board of Trustees at Middlebury College implemented a "One Percent for Art" policy. This initiative allocates one percent of the cost of any new construction or renovation at the college for the acquisition, installation, upkeep, and interpretation of publicly displayed artwork on campus. Currently, there are 19 pieces in the college's public art collection.

1: When can one register for courses?

A: Incoming First Year students arriving in September will learn about the registration process in June. Incoming First Year students arriving in February will learn about the registration process in November.

2: When can one find his/her student ID number?

A: Incoming students can find their ID number in an email sent to them by the Office of Admissions. If they cannot find that email, but have their Middlebury email address, then they can log into Banner Web and find it there.

3: Where can one ship my items prior to arrival?

A: For packages, we recommend using a service you can track, such as UPS, FedEx, and insured, certified, or registered mail. You will receive an email when your packages have been processed and you will need your student IDs for pickup. Pickup instructions will be included in your email. Packages should not weigh more than 50 lbs. You can begin shipping items to campus to arrive no earlier than the first day after the previous semester. For Spring arrivals, this date is February 3, 2025 and for Fall arrivals, August 26, 2024.
