Middlebury College is one of the best liberal arts colleges in Middlebury, Vermont. It’s a private institution established in the year 1800. The school has 40 undergraduate programs and departments and offers 44 majors in the humanities, arts, foreign languages, literature, social sciences, and natural sciences. It’s the first tertiary institution to offer environmental studies major in the United States.

Location

Middlebury College is located in Middlebury Vermont, United States. The city is quite small with a population of about 8,496. It is crossed by Vermont Route 23, U.S. Route 7, Vermont Route 30, Vermont Route 125, and Vermont Route. It has a reliable transportation system which features lots of buses, taxies, and trains. The city also has its own airport, the Middlebury State Airport. There are several malls, supermarkets, and other retail outlets where shopping can be made easily. Other points of interests in the city include Emma Willard Memorial, Otter Creek Falls, Henry Sheldon Museum of Vermont History, Otter Creek Brewing, Ilsley Public Library, and Woodchuck Hard Cider.

Campus

Middlebury College has a number of infrastructures on campus. One of such is the John McCardell Jr. Bicentennial Hall which is a multidisciplinary science facility. The building houses the Computer Science, Biology, Chemistry and Biochemistry, Geology, Geography, Psychology, Physics and departments as well as the Environmental Studies, Neuroscience, and Molecular Biology programs. Other infrastructures include the Davis Family Library, Two Atwater Commons Residence Halls, Atwater Dining Hall, Hillcrest Environmental Center, as well as an Italianate-style farmhouse. The library is an edifice to behold. It is situated in the heart of the campus and houses countless numbers of books, journals, and other published scholastic articles.

Residing Options

Middlebury College offers a number of housing options for its students. The housing units are grouped into five residential Commons: Brainerd, Atwater, Ross, Cook, and Wonnacott, with the options of single rooms, shared rooms or other private styled apartments. Each room has all the necessary facilities needed for a comfortable living, such as a reading chair, desk, bookcase, heater, mirror, dresser, among others
