This scholarship was created to enable for more qualified female engineering students to pursue a Master’s degree program at RWTH International Academy. Furthermore, it is intended to create gender equality among the international students of English-taught Master’s degree programs in engineering.

The awarding of this scholarship is dependent on the availability of the financial capital of the RWTH International Academy student fund. There is no legal basis for students to claim the scholarship.

Who Can Apply for Women in Engineering Scholarship

This scholarship was created to facilitate gender equality among international students and thus enable high potential female engineering students to pursue an executive Master's degree program, at RWTH Aachen University, offered by RWTH International Academy. The WiE Grant will be awarded to female students after successful admission to one of the following Master’s degree programs:

  • M. Sc. Computer Aided Conception and Production in Mechanical Engineering
  • M. Sc. Management and Engineering in Computer Aided Mechanical Engineering
  • M. Sc. Management and Engineering in Production Systems
  • M. Sc. Robotic Systems Engineering
  • M. Sc. Smart Production Engineering
  • M. Sc. Textile Engineering
  • M. Sc. Resilient Civil Engineering 
  • M.Sc. Battery Systems Engineering

Women in Engineering Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Admitted female students to one of the mentioned Master’s degree programs who have performed excellently in their Bachelor studies, are eligible for the scholarship.

A cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher is required (converted to the Germangrading system.

Students who already receive funding or a scholarship for the required tuition fees are not eligible.

How to Apply for Women in Engineering Scholarship

A complete scholarship application consists of:

Regular application for the Master’s degree program submitted through the

RWTH online application portal

Letter of intent for the scholarship (500 words)

In your letter of intent, you should specify your motivation for applying for this scholarship.
Your letter of intent should follow a clear, logical structure. You should answer the
following questions in an engaging and creative manner: 

What is your self-perception as a woman in the field of engineering and what are your
personal future goals? How will this scholarship empower you and how do you plan to
empower others by holding this scholarship? What action would you take in your role
as an ambassador among female engineers?
