Based on the principles of liberalism, the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom offers political education in Germany and abroad. With the events and publications, they help people to become actively involved in political affairs. They support talented young students with scholarships.

They support committed and liberal-minded students with very good grades in full study at German universities. As a foreign student, you can apply for a scholarship to study for a master's or main study stage of the state examination. To be funded you must still have two remaining semesters before you complete your studies. Our scholarships to foreign students are funded by and in accordance with the requirements of the Federal Foreign Office
The application documents must be submitted in German. The selection interview will also take place in German; even if you are applying for the funding of an English-language course or an English-language doctoral programme. Knowledge of German on the minimum level of B2 is essential for participating in the ideational support.

Unfortunately, Friedrich Naumann Foundation cannot support the following:

Second degrees
Part-time degrees
Distance learning courses that are not completed full-time
Advanced and supplementary degree courses
Bachelor programmes for foreign, non-EU students
Studies during their final phase (the minimum funding period is 2 semesters when starting the scholarship)
Any type of project (internships, language courses, travel subsidies, etc.)

• All documents must be submitted in either German or English. Please take care of any translations on your own.

  Applicants from outside the EU as well as refugees please submit the pages with your personal data

• University admission/certificate of enrollment
  High school graduates may deliver it later. Must be available at the time of admission tot he
  scholarship program at the latest.
  
  
• Diploma/degree, which qualifies for the corresponding university studies (Bachelor/Master).
  If you don't have your high school diploma yet, please upload your most recent interim-report. If you
  are invited to the personal interview, please bring a copy of your high school diploma with you.
  
  
• (Academic) transcripts (e.g. Table of Records, if applicable Bachelor's/Diploma certificate)
  Not appicable for high school graduates.
  
  
• If applicable, certificates of vocational training or professional activity
  
  Please note that the following letters of reference must also be provided to Foundation:
  
  
  • high school graduates: 2x letters of reference from your teachers
    
  • freshmen (1st semester): preferred: 2x letters of reference from your university professors/scientific employees
    
  • students (2nd semester and above): 2x letters of reference from your university professors/scientific assistants For applications for 1st semester Master-Program foundation accept reviews from the bachelor program
    
  • When you register for the application, a link will be generated. Please forward the link to your reviewers so that they can submit their reviews directly to foundation. You will receive separate e-mails for each submitted reference. Links can be generated up to 4 months before the application portal opens.
