The University of Bayreuth is a public research university located in Bayreuth, Germany. It was founded in 1975 as a campus university which focuses on international collaboration and interdisciplinarity. It is divided into six undergraduate and graduate faculties. The University of Bayreuth is divided into six faculties: Faculty of Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science, Faculty of Biology, Chemistry and Earth Sciences, Faculty of Law, Business and Economics, Faculty of Literature and Languages, Faculty of Cultural Studies, Faculty of Engineering Science

The university was ranked 29 in 2017 by the Times Higher Education world university ranking for universities founded less than 50 years ago. The University of Bayreuth is the only placed sixth comparatively small public university in the law between the top 10 among all German universities. In the specialist business administration trade, The University of Bayreuth ranks an excellent 12th place and is still in the top 10 of all public universities in Germany

Location

The University of Bayreuth is located in Bayreuth, Bavaria, Germany. Bayreuth is a town on the Red Main river in Bavaria and at it, the center is the Richard Wagner Museum in the composer's former home, Villa Wahnfried. Wagner's operas are performed at the Bayreuth Festspielhaus, home of the annual Bayreuth Festival. On the eastern outskirts, the Hermitage Gardens surrounds the Altes Schloss Eremitage palace and the Temple of the Sun (Sonnentempel), which honors the god Apollo. The Margravial Opera House is one of the finest Baroque theatres in Europe. It is the oldest working tableau in Bayreuth and it's also a museum.

Campus

The university has different infrastructures put in place to ensure effective learning. Bayreuth’s University Library well-stocked library contains around 2 million books and periodicals and almost as many e-books and online periodicals which provides free access to a wide variety of e-books. Its IT service center supports the University of Bayreuth’s research and teaching in all computer-related matters. The University shop offers a wide range of merchandise. The university has well-equipped laboratories, lecture halls, and CIP pools, among others. Students enjoy the benefits from research-based internships and the access to high-performance mathematical software.

Residing Options

The university has available dormitories which are offered by the local Association for Student Affairs (Studentenwerk). Students application must be submitted to the Student Affairs by the stated deadline in order to be included in the “lottery” system used to assign rooms. Applications which are submitted after the deadline are placed on a waiting list. Student apartments, shared apartments are also available outside the campus. Some of Bayreuth’s housing associations reserve a portion of their apartments for students.

Faculty

The University of Bayreuth has various faculties and different addition programs. It has a balanced faculty to student ratio of 1:10 comprising of 1,383 Academic staff, 877 Administrative staff. There are 13,502 students.

Jobs and placements

The University of Bayreuth’s has a Career Services team which provides a central interface between student and professional life. A diverse array of cooperation agreements gives different companies access to the talented young people at the university. Flagship events are organized by Career Services which enable direct exchange between students and industry partners and often lead to internships and permanent positions.
