Pepperdine University is a private Christian research institution, affiliated with the Churches of Christ, and located in Los Angeles County, California. Its main campus spans 830 acres (340 hectares) and offers stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu. Established in 1937 by entrepreneur George Pepperdine in South Los Angeles, the university relocated and expanded to Malibu in 1972.

Today, courses are offered at the main Malibu campus, three graduate campuses across Southern California, a centre in Washington, D.C., and international campuses in Buenos Aires, Argentina; London, UK; Heidelberg, Germany; Florence, Italy; and Blonay – Saint-Légier, Switzerland. Pepperdine is made up of Seaver College, an undergraduate liberal arts school, and four graduate schools: the Caruso School of Law, the Graziadio Business School, the Graduate School of Education and Psychology, and the School of Public Policy.

Campus

Pepperdine University's Malibu campus spans 830 acres (340 hectares) in the Santa Monica Mountains, offering breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean and the Pacific Coast Highway. Located in an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County, the campus is a designated census area. Its natural beauty and striking architecture have earned it a reputation as one of the most scenic college campuses in the world. Many describe it as a place that feels more like a beach resort than a traditional private university.

From the campus, one can see Santa Monica Bay, Catalina Island, the Palos Verdes Peninsula, and much of Los Angeles’ westside. The buildings on campus are primarily designed in the Mediterranean Revival style, featuring white stucco walls, red tile roofs, and large tinted windows. The first phase of construction on this site was completed in 1973.

A: This past application season (Fall 2024) we received 12,719 applications and admitted 7,515 students.

2: When are the application deadlines?

A: For first-year students, the fall application deadlines are November 1 for Early Action and January 15 for Regular Decision.  The nursing application deadline is January 15. The fall transfer application deadline is January 15. The spring application deadline is October 1.
