In 2007, the University of Paisley and Bell College, Hamilton merged to establish the University of the West of Scotland. There is a long history preceding the establishment of this university. How to Apply at University of the West of Scotland

The following is a step-by-step guide to applying for undergraduate programmes using the UCAS portal:

  • Students must first go to the University of  the West of Scotland's 'how to apply' website at www.uclan.ac.uk/undergraduate/how-to-application.
    The students must then log in to the UCAS platform and pick the 'Undergraduate' option. To proceed with their application, they must now press the 'Apply' button.
  • If they have previously registered on the portal, they may continue their application by logging in using their username and password.
  • Students who have not yet enrolled must pick their gender and provide their name and surname in order to complete the registration process.
  • To continue, students must pick Non-UK/International from the drop-down menu and click the 'Next' button.
  • To complete the registration, the candidates must provide their address, phone number, and email address.
  • Applicants must create a password and answer a series of security questions to assist them regain their password if they forget or lose it.
  • The username will now appear on the UCAS portal, which students should save because they will need it when checking in.
  • Students may now log in using their username and password, finish the application, and submit it. They may now monitor their application by using the track option which is provided by the UCAS

  • Select the method of study, the campus, and the anticipated start date. Select 'Confirm.'
  • Confirm if you already have a UWS application system number or whether this is your first time applying. If you choose 'No' from the drop-down, you must generate a login id and PIN.
  • After you've created your login id and PIN, you'll need to finish filling out your application form by adding personal information
  • After you've filled in all of your information, go to the following step to submit your papers and personal statement.
  • Check all of your information before submitting your application for review.

Transportation in the city

The Ayr Campus lies on Scotland's west coast, while the Dumfries Campus is two miles from the town center and the Hamilton Campus is in Lanarkshire.

Paisley campus is two miles from Glasgow airport and ten minutes by rail from the city center. The Hamilton campus is 15 minutes by train from Glasgow, while the Ayr campus is 40 minutes by vehicle or train from Glasgow. Dumfries campus is accessible via bus from the city center. London is roughly a 5-hour train ride from Glasgow.

Internship opportunities (Part time job opportunities)

Under the tier 4 visa, overseas students are permitted to work at the institution. Tier 4 students are permitted to work under the following conditions:

  • If a student is enrolled in a degree programme or higher, he or she may work up to 20 hours a week throughout the school year.
  • Students seeking credentials below the degree level may work up to 10 hours per week throughout the school year.
  • Students are permitted to work full-time outside of class hours. Vacations and the period before a course begins are considered out of term.
  • Internships are also permitted for international students if their subject requires it. This is only possible if they hold a Tier 4 visa.
