Côte d'Azur University is a public research institution based in Nice, France, with campuses in nearby areas. Established in 2019, it succeeded the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis and the community (ComUE) formed in 2013. On January 9, 2020, Jeanick Brisswalter was elected as the university’s president.
The University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, originally founded in 1965, was organised into eight faculties, two autonomous institutes, and one engineering school before merging into Côte d'Azur University in 2019. Currently, the university serves nearly 30,000 students, including 20% international students, and operates eight University and Research Schools (EUR). Its campuses are spread across several cities in the Alpes-Maritimes department, such as Nice, Cannes, Grasse, and Menton, as well as in the Sophia Antipolis technology park. The university is part of the academic region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, which also includes the academies of Aix-Marseille and Nice.
