Campus

Location

The main campus is located in the town of Stillwater. The town is well known largely because of the university itself and has nothing much outside it. However, many students feel that there is a lot you can do to keep yourself engaged in and around campus. The nearest big city is the state capital, Oklahoma City itself which is roughly 70 miles from Stillwater. Stillwater is home to the main campus of Northern Oklahoma College - Stillwater, Meridian Technology Center, and the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education as well.

Stillwater also has a diverse economy with a foundation in aerospace, agribusiness, biotechnology, optoelectronics, printing and publishing, and software and standard manufacturing. The city is operated under a council-manager government system and the city's largest employer is Oklahoma State University.  According to CNN Money Magazine, it was one of the 100 Best Places to Live in 2010.

Campus

Established in the year 1890, the OSUtoday, stands on an impressive area of more than 1450 acres of land which is equipped for carrying out all types of advanced scientific research. The university has an Advanced Technology Research Center where all the engineering related research is carried out. Besides this, the campus also boasts of a library which is known as Edmon Low library. This library is located on the main campus of the university and houses over 3 million books along with the subscription to all the online databases. For students pursuing courses in different forms of performing arts, the university has set up the Seretean Centre for the Performing Arts.

Residing Options

As far as the accommodation facilities offered by the university are concerned, there are halls of residences available on campus such as the Allen Hall, Parker Hall, Kerr Hall, Iba Hall, Bennett Hall, Drummond Hall, Booker Hall, Davis Hall, Jones Hall, and Stout Hall etc. Besides this, the university through its Off Campus Student Association also helps the students who are keen on finding a place off campus to find one for them. This association has a database of all the apartments which are located on a close proximity from the main university campus like 4709 N. Washington Street, 800 E. Hall of Fame Avenue, 140 N. Duck # 42 etc. The average cost of accommodations starts from as low as $300 till about $2500 depending upon your budget and the facilities which you want.

Faculty

The faculty here does have an interest in teaching and imparting knowledge to others. The number of teaching assistants and their constant guidance in the course is especially mentioned here by the students.

Jobs and placements

The location leads to the placements taking a hit. Good students should push for placements off-campus by visiting career and job fairs outside. Nevertheless, there is still some campus placement where the average placement package was about $50,000-$60,000. Whether you are seeking a part-time student job while attending OSU, work-study, an internship for the summer, co-op job opportunities or full-time employment for after graduation, Career Services staff will stand committed to assisting students and alumni with all of their career needs.
