Illinois State University is a public institution in Normal, Illinois. ISU is the oldest Public university in Illinois, and the University focuses more on teaching and it is acknowledged as one of the top 10 largest producers of teachers in the United States of America. Location

Illinois State University’s main campus is located in the twin-community of Bloomington-Normal near the geographic center of the state, the address of the institution is 100 N University St, Normal, IL 61761 USA and it is 137 miles southwest of Chicago and 167 miles northeast of St. Louis. Interstates 74, 55, and 39; U.S Route 150; and Illinois Route 9 intersect around Bloomington -Normal, also creating a transportation hub. An Amtrak passenger station is two blocks from the University. The University’s recreation center is also located in Normal, Illinois and holds the address as 375 S University St #103, Normal, IL 61790 USA.

Campus

Illinois State University urban campus is on 1000 acres of land, and the University campus quadrangle can be compared with other large buildings spaced closely together around a rectangular center lawn. At the University, you will also find Milner Library which has a collection of more than 1.5million volumes and a large variety of electronic materials accessible by internet to the students and faculty. There is also the residence halls which can accommodate about 6000 students, the Watterson’s Twin Towers each have 5 ‘houses' and each ‘house’ has five floors with each floor divided into suites. Hewett and Manchester Hall are in the east campus, Haynie, Wilkins and Wright halls are in the west campus next to Redbird Arena and Hancock stadium. There’s Also a new and old cardinal court which is reserved for married couples and graduates. The other halls such as the Hamilton, Whitten, Atkin and Colby Halls are suited in the south campus and then the central campus which provides space for the recreation center, student fitness, and Kinesiology.

Residing Options

Illinois State University offers an undergraduate housing which is clustered in four neighborhoods located across Illinois state’s 850-acre campus. The university owns seven residence halls that can accommodate about 6000 students, the ISU’s office of residential life is responsible for providing residences that can be comfortable and suitable for the students. These halls include Watterson Towers which is the largest hall on campus and it is also the world’s tallest students residence hall, the Watterson Towers is characterized by areas for wellness, quiet, substance-free and visitations are limited. Hewett and Manchester Hall are suited in the east campus, the Haynie, Wilkins and wright hall are in the West campus next to the Redbird Arena and Hancock stadium, these halls are known for accommodating a majority of athletes because of their proximity to practice areas. The University also has the cardinal court apartment which provides an apartment-style living, and the Hamilton and Whitten Hall which features lifestyle floors such as Upper Class and Graduate, Student Nursing and Speech Pathology and Audiology. There is also the Atkin and Colby Hall which was built later than the Hamilton and Whitten Hall, at the Central campus,  you will find the recreation center,  Student fitness, and kinesiology.

Faculty

Illinois State University has a total of 3,563 administrative staff, and a total of 99 members of an academic staff, the University consist of seven colleges with nearly 35 academic departments, the professors can teach the students effectively,  and classes are uniquely the best.
