Fleming College, sometimes known as Sir Sanford Fleming College, was established in 1967 as an open institute. The Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association, ACCC, and the Peterborough Centennial Museum & Archives are all affiliated with the institute. Trent University is known to be the partner university of Fleming College. 

Sutherland campus, Cobourg campus, Haliburton campus, and Frost campus are the four campuses that make up the institute. The main campus, which is located in Canada, is Sutherland. There are around 5,800 full-time and 10,000 part-time students at Fleming College, as well as 71,000 alumni. The Kawartha Trades and Technology Centre (KTTC), which opened in 2014 and houses Fleming's Trades and Technology programmes, is located at the Sutherland campus.
