The University of Tsukuba is located in Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan. Located in the heart of Tsukuba city, which is less than an hour train ride from central Tokyo, the University offers a relaxed, pleasant, college-town feel.  You are certain to have a wonderful studying experience in this schools because all the conveniences of the capital are within easy reach.


The university has several infrastructural buildings, these include lecture theatres, laboratories, research centers and other infrastructures for academic purpose. The university has a large functional hospital in the Tsukuba campus which serve the campus community and the whole city. The administrative building is rightly positioned in the center of each campus and there's the university library that offers a cool environment for personal study and research.

Residing Options

The university offers a mix of housing units for its international students. Students can choose from either an on-campus housing or off-campus housing units. Off-Campus Housing is a number of condominiums and apartments near the campus, while the on-campus was established by the university to offer students an excellent study environment. It has 65 residences with a total of 4,000 rooms are located on all its campuses. Every room is furnished adequately with a bed, a washbasin, a table, a dormitory telephone etc. Furthermore, each building has a communal kitchen, a laundry room, and shower room, etc. Bear in mind that the rooms are available to students on a priority basis.


The University of Tsukuba has a faculty-student ratio of 1:6 and this comprises 2,284 administrative staff, 2,616 full-time academic staff as well as a student population of 16,459. The university has an excellent standard of teaching and unique research performance.

Graduates from the University of Tsukuba have the 64th best employment rate in 400 major companies in Japan, according to a Weekly Economist's rankings in 2010.
