Officially established in December 2006, the University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) is ranked among the best public universities offering specialised programs and courses in biosciences and health sciences. It comes under the University of Minnesota system as one of its five campuses.

Hosting more than 570 students, the University offers two majors, namely B.S. in Health Sciences and B.S. in Health Professions. At the same time, masters and doctoral courses in Computational Biology and Biomedical Informatics are also provided. The maximum enrollment has been capped at 1,000.

Transportation in the city

Since the University has an urban setting, transport services are easily accessible. Students can avail of the 120-day bus passes for USD 80 (INR 6,121.86). Besides, students can also opt for carpooling, biking, or even walking. Only the upper-year candidates are allowed to bring personal vehicles owing to limited parking spaces.


Services offered by the university

  • Limited University of Minnesota Rochester scholarships such as Benson Scholarship, Hunt Scholarship, Leonard and Fern Anderson Scholarship, and many more are awarded solely to first-year students.
  • Between 2019 and 2020, University of Minnesota Rochester scholarship aids were provided to 74% of the first-year students.
