The university offers a variety of en suite and studio apartments within the campus. There are 20 halls of residences with 8,000 rooms. The different types of accommodation that students can avail of are:

Catered halls - There are five catered halls (Dalton Ellis, Hulme hall, St. Anselm hall in Victoria park, Ashburn hall, Woolten hall in Fallowfield.) In these halls, students get meals in community halls; the cost of meals is included in the residence fee.
Self-catered halls - You get independence and flexibility in self-catered halls where you can determine your food budget, cook your meals, and have control over when and what to eat. These halls are grouped in corridors or shared halls having communal kitchens and lounges. You get microwaves, refrigerators, cupboards, freezers, and cookers.
The bedrooms of all accommodation facilities have beds, desks, chairs, wardrobes, showers, toilets, and washbasins shared between fellow residents.
If students have special requirements concerning parties, alcohol, noise, etc., they can choose "lifestyle moderated" halls.
