Transportation in the city

The campus of Manchester University is in the heart of the city and has an exceptional transport network of rail, local bus and tram services, all functioning at very reasonable costs and with discounts for students. Students even walk or cycle to the university campus to avoid traffic during rush hours. 

  • Students can take free rides between the Sackville Street and Oxford Road campuses with Magic 147 bus services that run from Monday to Friday (7.15 AM to 6.15 PM)
  • Both Sackville Street and Oxford Road campuses are near the Piccadilly and Victoria train stations in Manchester. You can avail the bus no. 147 to travel from Piccadilly station and bus no. 42 from Victoria station to reach the university.
  • International students travelling from Manchester airport to the university can ride bus no. 43a and 45a. The airport is located just 14 km away from the university campus and takes about 20 minutes by car.

The library on the Oxford street campus at UoM is one of the five research libraries in the UK.
