Transportation in the city

Skidmore College is located in Saratoga Springs, New York, and the distance between the city and the university is less than two miles. Students can travel to the university by train with the Saratoga Springs Amtrak station only 2.5 miles away from campus and alternatively, bus and taxi services operate daily in the city. The Capital District Transit Authority (CDTA) offers Skidmore students and employees free bus service to Saratoga and other local destinations. 


Services offered by the university

  • Spread across 1200 acres, Skidmore College carries out its educational processes through twenty-nine academic buildings. The average class size is 16 students with 94% of classes having less than 30 students. 
  • The Lucy Scribner Library has a variety of print, electronic, and audiovisual material including over 350,000 print volumes, 70,000 full-text journals, and 250 databases. The library also offers its students seating areas, study carrels, and group study rooms.
  • Fostering interdisciplinary connections across the sciences, arts, humanities, and social sciences, the Center for Integrated Sciences is a state-of-the-art hub hosting 51 research and teaching labs, 21 classrooms, a collaborative Idea Lab, and flexible study spaces.
  • In order to support and accelerate students’ academic progress, the university’s Student Academic Services offer peer academic coaching, individual peer tutoring, and professional one-on-one support. Additionally, their services extend to international students, student-athletes, and students with disabilities.
  • The Career Development Center assists students with internship and job search, networking, career exploration, graduate school, and interview preparation, among a few.
  • The on-campus Arthur Zankel Music Center is a 54,000 square feet musical activity hub that features teaching, practice, performance, and administrative space.
