Transportation in the city

Skidmore College is located in Saratoga Springs, New York, and the distance between the city and the university is less than two miles. Students can travel to the university by train with the Saratoga Springs Amtrak station only 2.5 miles away from campus and alternatively, bus and taxi services operate daily in the city. The Capital District Transit Authority (CDTA) offers Skidmore students and employees free bus service to Saratoga and other local destinations. 

Services offered by the university

  • Spread across 1200 acres, Skidmore College carries out its educational processes through twenty-nine academic buildings. The average class size is 16 students with 94% of classes having less than 30 students. 
  • The Lucy Scribner Library has a variety of print, electronic, and audiovisual material including over 350,000 print volumes, 70,000 full-text journals, and 250 databases. The library also offers its students seating areas, study carrels, and group study rooms.
  • Fostering interdisciplinary connections across the sciences, arts, humanities, and social sciences, the Center for Integrated Sciences is a state-of-the-art hub hosting 51 research and teaching labs, 21 classrooms, a collaborative Idea Lab, and flexible study spaces.
  • In order to support and accelerate students’ academic progress, the university’s Student Academic Services offer peer academic coaching, individual peer tutoring, and professional one-on-one support. Additionally, their services extend to international students, student-athletes, and students with disabilities.
  • The Career Development Center assists students with internship and job search, networking, career exploration, graduate school, and interview preparation, among a few.
  • The on-campus Arthur Zankel Music Center is a 54,000 square feet musical activity hub that features teaching, practice, performance, and administrative space.

  • The Office of Campus Life & Engagement supports students’ co-curricular learning by offering retreats, leadership development skills, training and volunteer work, and student clubs. 
  • With over 130 clubs and organizations, students engage in numerous events covering areas of interest like culture, sports, music, dance, comedy, theater, media, religion, academics, politics, and other specialties. 
  • The university offers a variety of intramurals, fitness options, and 13 club sports like baseball, basketball, golf, soccer, tennis, ice hockey, rowing, swimming, and diving to name a few. 
  • The Williamson Sports Center, home to the Health and Exercise Sciences major, features basketball, volleyball, and racquetball courts, a swimming pool, fitness, and weight rooms. Students also have access to nine tennis courts, artificial-turf fields, riding, and rowing facilities. 
  • On-campus Health Services provides accessible, high-quality, and cost-effective healthcare to all of its students. 
  • The Counseling Center, equipped with professional clinicians offers confidential, personalized, and professional mental health services and resources. 
  • The Skidmore College Bookstore provides students with textbooks, school supplies, clothing, gifts, tech, and apparel.
