The Academic Campus includes five academic buildings, while the Residential Campus houses nine buildings for undergraduate student housing. The original location of the Simmons College Graduate School of Social Work is also featured on the Boston Women's Heritage Trail.
In November 2020, Simmons University introduced the One Simmons plan to consolidate the two campuses into a single, unified campus. A key part of this plan is the construction of a 21-story "Living and Learning Center," which will feature 1,100 dorm rooms, classrooms, and athletic facilities. Renovations to the Main College Building and Lefavour Hall are also planned; Lefavour Hall will gain a new library and a state-of-the-art science centre. Following the completion of these initial renovations in spring 2022, the Park Science Center was closed and is set to be demolished to make way for the new Living and Learning Center. Construction is scheduled to start in fall 2022, with an expected opening in fall 2026.
Simmons University Global Ranking
The University is still awaiting its official rankings from prominent organisations such as QS, Times Higher Education, and US News and World Report. Despite its growing reputation and contributions to academia, the university has not yet been featured in the rankings published by these influential bodies. But it has been ranked at #165 out of 436 national universities of the U.S. News.
Although the University continues to develop its academic programs and research initiatives, it remains unranked by these major international ranking institutions. The absence of a ranking from QS, Times Higher Education, and US News does not reflect the quality of education or research output but simply indicates that the university has not been formally assessed by these specific agencies.
