The institution has kept a campus in Madrid, Spain, for more than 50 years. The Madrid campus was the first independent campus run by an American university in Europe and the first American institution to receive official recognition as a foreign university by Spain's higher education body. The campus has 850 students, 110 staff members, and classes typically have 17 students. 788 of the 12,883 students attend the Madrid Campus, representing students from 45 of the 82 nations that make up the total number of students.
