All students attending the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles for undergraduate degree programs will complete an English composition placement exam when they arrive on campus. This exam is diagnostic and intended to determine the appropriate foundation-level college English course the student will take in their first semester. Students who score below the prescribed threshold may be required to take additional college English coursework. This placement testing is independent of any English proficiency testing required for admission to NYFA.

The New York Film Academy Los Angeles is located in Burbank and the most accessible way to reach the university is through the bus station. The nearest bus stop to New York Film Academy Los Angeles, the Riverside / Hollywood Way in Burbank is 1 minute of walk away. For international students, the Los Angeles International Airport serves the city with daily flights on major and commuter airlines. The airport is twenty seven miles from the city and taxi service is available. For students who chose to travel through the train and the subway, the Metrolink Ventura County line and the B Line (RED) is available, respectively.

The New York Film Academy Los Angeles does not provide facilities or on-campus housing for students. The New York Film Academy Los Angeles Housing Office provides off-campus housing information like average rental rates, closest apartments, roommate queries, code of conduct and general FAQs. Students should expect a range of costs in housing, on average between 1000 to 1500 USD (77,344 to 1,16,017 INR) per month per student depending on the location, size, apartment complex, amenities and length of stay. Students can spend less depending on the apartment they choose and the number of roommate(s). Studios typically start around 1600 USD (1,23,751 INR) per month in the Burbank area. One-bedrooms start around 1900 USD (1,46,955 INR) per month and two bedroom/two bathroom can start anywhere from 2000 USD (1,54,689 INR) onwards.
