Named after St. Jean- Baptiste de La Salle, the La Salle University is a private institution which was founded in the year 1863 by the Brothers of Christian School Institute. It started as an all-male college and only admitted females for its regular classes in the year 1970 to become a co-educational university.
The Christian institute is affiliated with Roman Catholic Church and offers more than 40 programs for the undergraduates and 15 programs for the graduates. Majors in Education, Nursing and Communication are the largest at this university. The programs are offered traditionally, online as well as in the hybrid format. Its academic calendar is semester-based and it stands at the 26th spot in the 2016 edition of Best Regional Universities in the north of US.
