Transportation in the city

La Roche University is located in Pittsburgh and the most accessible way to reach the university is through the bus station. The nearest bus stop to the university, the Babcock Boulevard + Laroche College Driveway is a 4 minute walk away. For international students, the Pittsburgh International Airport serves the city with daily flights on major and commuter airlines. The airport is twenty nine miles from the city and taxi service is available. The Center for Student Development has coordinated bi-weekly van trips for students to local shopping plazas. The van will only go to specified locations in a five mile radius of the La Roche University Campus.

La Roche University offers its students the opportunity to engage in authentic research experiences and develop laboratory expertise before graduating. One of the programs offered at La Roche University is ChemSOLVE, an extracurricular program designed to provide laboratory experience for chemistry majors. The students have access to full-time professors who have Phds in chemistry, extensive post-doctoral experience and connections with local universities.

At La Roche University, students may complete an internship in an area related to their major. One to twelve (1-12) internship credits may be earned over the course of a student’s time at the university. The Office of Career Development assists students in making decisions and taking action to become a qualified professional for their chosen industry. La Roche also offers micro-internships that can take place year-round. 

These project-based internships allow students to demonstrate skills, build networks and explore careers. Typically micro-internships range from five to 40 hours of work, and are ideal for student athletes, working students and recent graduates who are juggling multiple responsibilities. Students have interned across the nation for companies and organizations like S&T Bank, Bayer, Department of Humans Services, Doubletree Hotel by Hilton, FedEx Service, Walt Disney World, City of Pittsburgh Police etc.
