Exams Accepted By Emory University

Any one of the following criteria can be used by students to demonstrate excellent mastery of the English language:

 

  • A 700+ on the SAT's Evidence-based Reading and Writing section. 
  • ACT English subtest score of 30 or higher having spent the last four years in a school where English is the only language used for academic instruction (apart from global or world languages).

 

One of the following examinations might also be considered if the criteria are not met:

 

  • IELTS band score of 7.5.
  • TOEFL score of 100 on the internet-based TOEFL (iBT or iBT Home Edition), a TOEFL ITP score of C1.

Transportation in the city

  • MARTA TRAINS: MARTA trains are the most practical option for travel from north to south or from east to west. The cost of a one-way journey is a fixed $2.50; day passes are $9; and multi day permits range from $14 for two days to $23.75 for a week.

 

  • MARTA BUSES: MARTA buses run through the suburbs and the city centre. The system runs every day over more than 100 routes totalling more than 1,000 miles, but the frequency varies depending on the line. The cost is the same flat rate of $2.50 as the train system.

 

  • STREETCARS: The Atlanta Streetcar, which has 12 stations within a 2.7-mile loop, is an efficient way to get between downtown and East Side attractions. A ticket to ride the streetcar costs $1 for a one-way trip and $3 for a one-day pass.
