Bangor University is a public university in Bangor, Wales. It was one of the founding institutions of the federal University of Wales and receivedits Royal Charter in 1885. The University is divided into three Colleges, each of which has nine academic Schools and over fifty specialized research centers, allowing for the delivery of courses in the Arts, Humanities, and Sciences.

Moreover, it currently houses about 10,000 students from all over the world. Transportation in the city

The Bangor University campus is highly accessible, with direct train connections to London, Manchester, Crewe, and Cardiff. A bus or a boat can also be used to get to the campus. 


Student life

  • Traditional sports including Rugby, Netball, Football, and Tennis, as well as outdoor activities such as surfing, Snowsports, Canoeing, and Windsurfing, are all available. Students can also try something new, such as Underwater hockey, Quidditch, or Ultimate Frisbee.
  • Supermarkets, grocery stores, high-street businesses, cafés, pubs, and restaurants abound in the city center. Bangor is an ideal location for sports fans. The Pontio Center, a social hub and home to the Students' Union, comprises a cinema, theatre, lecture theatres, exhibition spaces, and other amenities.

Services offered by the University-

  • It provides a variety of student-friendly services, including sports facilities, study facilities, libraries, and lodging. The University's living complex includes amenities such as lounges, studios, kitchens, and workout facilities. 
  • There are course-related organizations such as Langsoc, Zoosoc, and Psych Soc; nations and cultures societies; and groups for students who have common hobbies such as Theatre, Music, Cinema, and Photography.
  • The institution is divided into three Colleges, each hosting fourteen academic Schools and over fifty specialized research institutes, allowing courses in the Arts, Humanities, and Sciences to be offered.

On campus accomodation

According to a poll done by WhatUni in 2019, Bangor University accommodation is ranked Top 5 in the UK for student accommodation and offers housing alternatives to its applicants both on campus and nearby.

  • All international Bangor University first-year students are guaranteed a spot in the University housing. While most candidates are offered a place in one of the University's two student villages, Ffriddoedd or St Mary's, the University also has a postgraduate hall named Neuadd Garth on College Road. 
  • The on-campus accommodation options are all en suite and include a subscription to the resident gym and Campus Life.
  • Ffriddoedd Village features over 2,000 rooms, most of which are en-suite. Neuadd Reichel, the basic hall, includes 120 rooms with communal kitchens and bathrooms, with the main university building being roughly a 10-minute walk away. There are stores, laundries, and common rooms in this community, as well as Bar Uno café bars and the Canolfan Brailsford sports facility.
  • Around 600 rooms are available in St Mary's Village, including en-suite rooms, budget rooms, 5 studio flats, and townhouses. The Bryn Eithin is the village's only standard hall, with communal facilities and a kitchenette. Five resident halls make up this community, which includes roughly 300 en-suite beds and 30 studios. There is a café, laundromat, common room, exercise facility, and other amenities in this community.
  • University housing costs from GBP 101.86 to 162.97 (10K-16K INR) per week (including utility bills).

Much of their research focuses on place-based innovation, with a particular emphasis on the North Wales region's unique characteristics.

  • Bangor University's internship programme allows undergraduate students to gain paid graduate-level work experience through the Academic Schools and Service Departments of the University.
  • The Undergraduate Internship Scheme at Bangor University provides paid internship opportunities inside the University, with the goal of improving students' employability. These internships are open to all undergraduate students and count for 20 points toward the Bangor Employability Award.
  • The Students' Union maintains a dedicated Student Volunteering Office (SVB), which now provides 600 hours per week to foster a tight interaction between the University and the surrounding community.
