The application process involves simultaneous steps for university admission and the scholarship. It is competitive and requires careful attention to detail.
Step 1: Check Your Eligibility
Before you begin, carefully review the eligibility criteria on the official Mathematics Münster website, paying close attention to the residency rule and academic requirements.
Step 2: Prepare Your Documents
Draft a compelling letter of motivation and request two letters of recommendation from your professors well in advance, informing them they will need to email it directly.
Step 3: Complete the Online Application & Submit Documents
Submit your application for the M.Sc. Mathematics programme through the University of Münster's online portal. Simultaneously, ensure your letter of motivation and that your referees have sent their recommendation letters to mm.scholarships@uni-muenster.de.
Step 4: Await Initial Assessment & Interview Invitation
The Masters Admission Committee will rate applicants based on academic excellence and motivation. The best candidates will be invited to an online interview with the selection committee.
Step 5: Attend Your Online Interview
Prepare for and attend your online interview. This is your opportunity to discuss your application, motivation, and mathematical interests in person.
Step 6: Await the Final Decision
After the interviews, the selection committee forwards its recommendations to the executive board of Mathematics Münster for the final funding decision. All applicants are notified of the outcome.
Step 7: Receive Your Award
