The University of Verona is located in Verona, Italy, and was founded in 1982. It is structured into 12 departments. In 2014, 2015, and 2016, the Italian business newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore recognized it as the best non-private university in the country.
The origins of the university date back to the early 1950s when a group of Catholic intellectuals established the "Ludovico Antonio Muratori" Free High School of Historical Science, along with the magazine Nova Historia. This group of scholars laid the groundwork for the university, and in February 1959, the then-mayor, Prof. Giorgio Zanotto, proposed the establishment of a University Faculty of Economics and Commerce during a session of the Municipal Council.
