The University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS) is a public research university located in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It is part of the University of Colorado system, which includes four campuses. The history of the UCCS campus dates back to the establishment of Cragmor Sanatorium, now known as Main Hall.
In 1902, William Jackson Palmer donated funds to construct the sanatorium, which served as a facility for the treatment, rehabilitation, and therapy of the chronically ill. When it opened in 1905, the Cragmor Sanatorium earned the nickname "Sun Palace" due to its sun-oriented architectural design.
