The Australian Catholic University is a public university in Australia. It has seven campuses within the country and one in Rome. The Australian Catholic University was opened in 1991 following the amalgamation of four Catholic tertiary institutions in eastern Australia, namely the Catholic College of Education Sydney in New South Wales, the Institute of Catholic Education in Victoria, McAuley College in Queensland, and Signadou College of Education in Australian Capital Territory. These institutions originated in the mid-1800s and have a lot of religious history.
Campus
The university has 7 campuses: Ballarat, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, and Sydney (Blacktown, North Sydney, Strathfield) with a Leadership Centre in Adelaide and another in Townsville. The Rome campus was opened in 2015 in collaboration with the Catholic University of America. Each ACU campus has a student council. A national student body called the Australian Catholic University National Students' Association is also present and ensures that the individual and collective needs of the students are represented. The University hosts many events, especially sporting events, throughout the year.
