Transportation in the city

The Architectural Association School of Architecture carries out its educational processes through two campuses, the London campus and Hooke Park in Dorset, United Kingdom. Students can travel to the London campus by subway, bus, or taxi. The journey lasts less than 10 minutes and costs between 1.66 to 6.63 GBP (159 to 635 INR). Hooke Park in Dorset is accessible by bus or taxi for three hours and forty minutes, respectively. Taxi fares range from 45 to 53 GBP (4313 to 5079 INR). 


Services offered by the university

  • The on-campus library holds almost 48,000 volumes on all aspects of architectural theory, history and practice. Additionally, students can also access digital collections, print editions, historical magazines, special collections, and rare and early works.
  • The Architectural Association School of Architecture Hooke Park campus is equipped with a fabrication workshop comprising woodworking hand tools and power tools along with a range of other machinery requirements. The campus also includes an assembly workshop, sawmill, and robot arm. 
  • Students and faculty members can access the computer lab, bookshop, digital photo studio, digital platforms, print center, wood processing yard, robotic fabrication facility workshop, and digital prototyping lab.   
  • The Writing Center offers 30-minute, individual tutorials to all students who require assistance with written communication skills, reading, critical research, and creative writing capabilities across all programs and year groups. 
  • The AA Archives offers the university’s researchers a wealth of material related to the social and intellectual history of architectural education. 
  • Students can participate in various events and initiatives at the school organized by the Student Forum. 
  • The Careers Office offers career pathways and employment advice to students through job application preparation, cover letter and portfolio surgeries, interview rehearsal, industry networking, dedicated industry event programming, and pastoral care for alumni and graduates.

Student life

  • The Architectural Association School of Architecture London campus hosts the AA Bar which is the site of exhibitions, debates, tutorials, musical performances, dances, cocktails, conversations, celebrations, and infamous parties. 
  • The university provides an on-site registration facility with a general practitioner that enables students to receive emergency care when needed and access the services provided by the National Health Service (NHS). 
  • The Student Care Center, through an accredited counselor, offers confidential, one-to-one support sessions and workshops to improve students’ mental health.  
  • Irrespective of any disability, the university provides all students with a high-quality learning experience.

On campus accomodation

The Architectural Association School of Architecture London campus does not offer on-campus accommodation for its students but enlists the services of the University of London Housing Services (ULHS) which offer advice to students regarding how to find accommodation, which areas to consider, pricing, contract checking, legal advice, and more. The ULHS works with short-term accommodation providers and Private Student Halls of Residence. 

The Architectural Association School of Architecture Hooke Park campus accommodates 16 people in eight rooms each with two single beds, a toilet, shower and wash basin. There is also a large communal room with a wood-burning stove.
