Sydney Scholars India Scholarship Program: Eligibility, Deadline & How to Apply

An undergraduate and postgraduate coursework scholarship

$500,000 worth of scholarships is available for commencing Indian students to help strengthen bond with India.

Applicants must be an international student as defined in the Higher Education Support Act 2003. This excludes Australian citizens and Australian permanent residents.

Up to $40,000

A total of 28 scholarships will be awarded annually, consisting of:

• 2 x 100% tuition fees for any undergraduate degree up to four years full-time study.
• 10 x $20,000 first-year scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• 16 x $10,000 first-year scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

You must:

• An international student as defined in the Higher Education Support Act 2003. This excludes Australian citizens and Australian permanent residents.
• Hold Indian citizenship and be a current resident of India.
• Have applied for but not yet commenced an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree at the University of Sydney at the time of application for the award.

Note: You are not eligible if you are a permanent resident of Australia, or if you have previously held a University of Sydney India Scholarship.

This program intends to foster the engagement between the University and India in investment in research, collaboration with industry partners and deepening the commitment to education for students to achieve their full potential.

The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of:

• Academic Merit
• Personal Statements.
• The applicant’s application for admission to an undergraduate or postgraduate coursework degree at the University of Sydney.

Received an unconditional offer of admission to a coursework degree.

This form will open for applications on 1 April 2025 at 12am and close for applications on the 25 May 2025 at 11:59pm (Sydney, Australia time GMT+10).
