The Mukul Madhav Foundation Scholarship was founded in 2025 to assist Indian nationals to undertake Master's study at UCL in the Institute of Global Health or Institute of Child Health.

Selection criteria: Financial need

The scholarship is tenable for one year only and for one-year programmes only.

The Scholarship may be held alongside other scholarships, studentships, awards, or bursaries depending on the total value of other funds received by the student.

Mukul Madhav Foundation Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfil all of the following criteria:

  • Be ordinarily resident in India and eligible to pay the Overseas fee rate;
  • AND have submitted a complete admission application (including the submission of references) for a full-time, one-year Master's degree at UCL in 2025/26 for one of the following programmes: 
    • MSc Paediatrics and Child Health: Advanced Paediatrics
    • MSc Child and Adolescent Mental Health
    • MSc Cell, Gene and Novel Therapies
    • MSc in Global Health and Development
    • MSc in Health Economics and Decision Science 
    • MSc in Applied Infectious Disease Epidemiology

  • AND be in receipt of an offer from UCL by the selection result deadline in late June.  Please note: Distance-learning options are not eligible for this fund; students must be coming to the UK to attend UCL in person

How to Apply for Mukul Madhav Foundation Scholarship

  • Instructions for accessing the online scholarship application form:
    • Login to Portico with your normal details.
    • Click on the ‘View’ button for the ‘Active Application’ that you wish to apply for funding for
    • In the application screen, click on the ‘Funding’ in the menu at the top of the page.
    • You are now on the funding page. To find out which funds you are eligible to apply for click 'Check and apply' under ‘Funds Available’.
    • Click on the scholarship name of the scheme that you wish to apply for.

For each Master's programme that you wish to apply for funding for, you will need to submit a separate scholarship application form.

Reference

  • The number of references needed to support your application can be found on the prospectus page for your programme.

Personal Statement

  • You can type your personal statement in the online application form (3,000-character limit, including spaces) or upload it as a separate document. If you upload your personal statement, you can go over 3,000 characters but it cannot be longer than two sides of A4 paper (size 12 font and single spaced).
  • You should consider the following questions when writing your personal statement
    • Why do you want to undertake the programme or research?
    • What are your academic interests?
    • Why do you wish to study at UCL?
    • What educational experience do you have?
    • Do you have any relevant work experience?
    • Have you completed any extracurricular or voluntary activities relevant to the programme?
    • What are your career aspirations?

CV

  • You have provided accurate details of any work experience or previous employment you would like UCL to be aware of, either in the employment section or as part of your uploaded CV.

Passport

  • If you need a visa to  study at UCL you will need to provide a copy of your current passport. If you do not have a valid passport, you can complete their Missing passport document and provide your passport later.

 

Who Can Apply for Mukul Madhav Foundation Scholarship

The scholarship is awarded on the basis of financial need and upon the recommendation of the Student Funding Office.
