The Country That Hit Its Student Goal 2 Years Early

While everyone's watching the US tighten and the UK shorten visas, a different story is quietly playing out in Asia.

South Korea just blew past its target of 300,000 international students, two full years ahead of schedule.

Why the sudden rush?

It's part of a bigger 2026 shift: as the "Big Four" get stricter, Asia and parts of Europe are throwing their doors open. South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Trkiye, all climbing fast.

But here's the honest catch, because there's always one:

Getting in is the easy part now. Staying and working is the hard part. Surveys show over 90% of international students in Korea want to work there after graduating, but more than two-thirds say the post-study work visa (the E-7) is genuinely tough to land.

So the real lesson isn't "Korea is the new hack." It's this: an easy admit means nothing if you can't build a career there afterward. Always check the exit, not just the entry.
