Does my Production Engineering UG degree weigh down my chances of admit in good colleges  in US for Data Science?

Hi Roshan
Most of the analytics subject in Data Science Programs are taught by Industrial engineering departments in USA , whereas the remaining one's are from CSE department but Data Science Specialization is offered by both CSE program and I E Program in reputed Colleges.
For CSE if you had experience you could try for TOP 50 uni's and there's no guarantee that you would get in due to their preference for core CSE undergrad Students ,
Whereas for Industrial Engineering you could easily get into Really Good Uni's Like TAMU, Purdue, USC, Penn State or even Gatech if you apply before priority deadline for fall which has almost same course outcomes and Job Salary.
Degree's in USA is more about the coursework and not the coursename as you can see some of the influencers online are working as SDE's in MAANG Companies eventhough they have just taken few coding subjects in their coursework.
So make a Wise Decision and do your reasearch and not just go blindly for it just because someone told you that you need a CS degree to Get into Data Science!

Apply to universities offering industrial engg with courses in data analytics also you can try MEM
