Here are some disadvantages:
- Housing also follows this pattern. Usually, rentals begin in the time for the fall. So, you may have a harder time finding rental housing, or would at least have a smaller range of options (probably mainly those properties vacated by people finishing after an odd number of semesters).
- In spring courses are tough, less Internship and job opportunities, less chances to get aid and part time jobs. Fewer intakes in spring, so not many courses will be offered. 
- Seats are limited for spring admission.

Here are the advantages:
- Of course, the advantage is that you can start a semester sooner. Also, at some places it may make sense—for a student who needs some remedial coursework—to start in the spring, take those remedial courses, and prepare for regular courses in the fall.
- Increased Personnel Support — Now that most students have settled into their routines, there is more staff available to help a spring admission. The extra assistance will be especially beneficial to students with special needs.
