Question

Guys, I'm a passout from 2020 batch, but after my undergrad I've been preparing for govt exams and jobs(Gate and Engg services) but unfortunately I couldn't secure a job, I got admitted for spring 23 intake, I request you to suggest me how to manage the gap during visa interview.

I guess you can tell VO that you did some courses on MOOC platforms like edX, NPTEL, Udemy etc in audit mode, so didn’t get any certificates but managed to learn a lot of practical things which would be useful for your MS program

Hi Harish, I would suggest the age old 'Honesty is the best policy' mantra. Before you, the visa officers would have interviewed hundreds of others like you who had gap years in between. Thus, stick to facts and let them know what you were doing during that period. You can improve your answer by talking about your learnings while preparing for these exams, or maybe you might have read more books on Data Science during that period, or if you had signed up for any short term certificate courses during that time then mention them. You can conclude by saying how the university might have also acknowledged your development in the gap period ultimately providing you an admit. In any case, please avoid creating fake scenarios.

Speak confidently ..and tell them that you took some time to build your skills ..and you have not wasted time. And mention your supporting knowledge courses you did to support your points. Just be you..leave the fear .
